Claude User Guide: Sign-up & Login, Account Switching, and Troubleshooting Email Verification Issues

3/3/2026
Claude

This Claude user guide focuses specifically on the three most common things: how to complete Claude registration and login, how to switch between different accounts, and how to troubleshoot when you “can’t receive the login email/verification email.” The steps are written based on actual web-side operations; following them usually resolves the issue.

1. How to register and log in to Claude for the first time

After opening the Claude official website, click the login/sign-up entry and choose the method you want to use: email login (usually sends a login link) or third-party account login (such as Google, etc.; the exact options depend on what the page shows). If you choose email, enter your commonly used email address and then go to your inbox and click the login link to enter Claude. The first time you enter Claude, it’s recommended to also locate the profile/settings entry; it will make switching accounts faster later.

After logging in to Claude in the same browser, the login state is usually kept for a period of time. To reduce repeated logins, you can pin Claude to your bookmarks bar or add the Claude page as a “pinned tab.” These practices don’t affect Claude account security, but they can noticeably improve day-to-day open speed.

2. Not receiving Claude login emails: check these first

Claude’s email login relies on the “login link in the email,” so if you’re not receiving the email, first check the spam folder, Promotions/Subscriptions categories, and whether your mailbox is auto-archiving related emails. Then confirm the email spelling is correct—especially with corporate email, where aliases, dots, and prefixes/suffixes are easy to enter incorrectly.

If it still doesn’t arrive, try switching network environments or wait a few minutes and trigger sending again; some email services limit frequent requests within a short time. You can also use a third-party login option provided on the page to get into Claude first, start using the account, and then come back to adjust email receiving rules—often it’s less hassle.

3. How to switch Claude accounts: logging out and browser isolation is more reliable

The most straightforward way to switch Claude accounts is: click the top-right profile menu, find Log out/Sign out, log out, and then log in to Claude with another account. This is the cleanest approach and is less likely to cause account mix-ups or abnormal history display.

If you need to switch Claude accounts frequently on the same computer, it’s recommended to isolate login states using “multiple browser users/profiles” or an incognito window: one profile logs in to one Claude account, without interfering with each other. If you still can’t switch, clear the site’s cookies and cache and then log in to Claude again; it usually returns to normal.

4. Two daily Claude habits: fewer pitfalls and better security

It’s recommended to settle on your primary Claude login method: if you use email long-term, add Claude’s sender to contacts or a whitelist; if you use a third-party account long-term, make sure that account itself is usable and can receive verification messages. This reduces situations where you “suddenly can’t log in to Claude.”

Also, try not to save Claude login states on public computers; log out when you’re done and close the browser. If you notice abnormal login alerts or sessions expiring frequently in Claude, first switch browser profiles or clear site data and then log in to Claude again—this is usually more effective than repeatedly refreshing.
