Claude Account Registration and Login Guide: Email Verification, Device Switching, and Secure Sign-Out

Claude

This tutorial covers only Claude account operations: how to register and log in, complete verification, switch between multiple devices, and the correct steps when you need to sign out or change accounts. Follow the steps to avoid repeated verification codes, login loops, and mixing up accounts.

I. Claude Registration and First Login (Web)

Open Claude’s official website (claude.ai). On the login page, choose “Continue with Google / Apple” or continue with email. When using email, you’ll usually receive a one-time verification code (or a login link). Enter the code back on the page to complete login. After entering Claude for the first time, follow the prompts to fill in basic information such as a nickname, and then you can start chatting directly.

It’s recommended to register Claude using a long-term, stable login method you use regularly, such as your primary Google account or a frequently used email address. This makes it easier to recover and restore access to your Claude account when switching devices or clearing browser cache.

II. Email Verification and Account Info Check (Avoiding Login Loops)

If you log in to Claude with email, the key is ensuring you can reliably receive the verification emails. First check Spam/Promotions, then add the sender domain to your allowlist/whitelist. If a work email has interception policies, switching to a personal email is often faster. If the page returns to the login screen after entering the code, common causes include the browser blocking cookies or extensions interfering with the login redirect.

Fixes: temporarily disable ad blockers/privacy extensions, allow site cookies, then refresh and log in to Claude again. If it still doesn’t work, test once in an incognito/private window to confirm whether extensions or cache are causing the loop.

III. Multi-Device Login and Account Switching: Practical Ways to Avoid Account Mix-Ups

Claude supports logging into the same Claude account on phones, tablets, and computers, but switching back and forth between multiple accounts can easily lead to situations where it “looks like you’re logged in” but it’s not the right account. The most reliable method is to use browser “user profiles/separate profiles” to separate different Claude accounts—for example, one profile for a work account and another for a personal account. This way each profile has independent cookies, and Claude chat history won’t get mixed together.

When you need to temporarily switch Claude accounts, first find Sign out in the personal menu at the top right of the page, then log in to the other account. If Claude still automatically jumps back to the old account, it means session information is still stored locally: sign out first, then clear cookies for that site, or simply switch to a different browser profile and log in again.

IV. Secure Sign-Out and Common Issues: What to Check If You Don’t Receive the Code or Login Fails

After using Claude on a public computer or shared device, be sure to “sign out”—don’t just close the page; closing the page does not mean the session is invalidated. After signing out, it’s recommended to clear site data related to Claude in the browser to prevent the next user from entering your Claude session directly.

If you can’t receive the verification code, first check email filtering and your network environment. If clicking the login button does nothing, it’s usually because scripts are being blocked or network requests are being intercepted. Updating the browser to the latest version, disabling conflicting extensions, and switching networks before trying again will usually restore the Claude login flow.
