Claude Opus 4.6 User Guide: Registration/Login, Verification, and Account Switching

Claude

This is a getting-started guide for Claude Opus 4.6, walking you through “Register → Log in → Verify → Switch accounts” in order. The process isn’t complicated, but there are a few small details that can easily trip you up—avoiding these pitfalls in advance can save quite a bit of time.

Registering for Claude Opus 4.6: Using email or a third-party account is easier

After opening Claude’s official website entry, click Sign up and choose email registration or third-party account login. Email registration typically asks you to enter your email address, then complete verification and your first login via the login link in the email. To reduce the hassle of typing passwords, prioritize a long-term, reliable email address or a commonly used third-party account.

After registration, it’s recommended to immediately confirm whether the account owner shown on the profile page is correct, to avoid accidentally signing into a different account in the same browser later. The experience of using Claude Opus 4.6 is strongly tied to account status—using the wrong account will directly affect your history and permissions.

Email verification and login link: If you don’t receive the email, check these items first

If the Claude Opus 4.6 verification email hasn’t arrived for a long time, first check the spam folder, ads folder, and “bundled/promotions” categories. Then check whether your mailbox has strict blocking rules enabled, or add the relevant domain to your whitelist. Many cases of “not receiving it” are actually due to automatic filtering or blocking by the email client.

After clicking the login link in the email, try to complete the subsequent steps on the same device and in the same browser. If the page keeps redirecting or says the link is invalid, it’s usually because the link has expired or has been opened multiple times—going back to the login page and sending a new one is faster.

Switching Claude Opus 4.6 accounts: Keep them cleanly separated even in the same browser

The most reliable way to switch is: first log out of the current account in Claude Opus 4.6, then log into another account. If you need to use two accounts simultaneously over the long term, it’s recommended to use two browser profiles (Chrome/Edge “Profiles”) to log in separately, each keeping independent cookies and history.

For temporary switching, you can log into a second account using an incognito window, and just close the window when you’re done. This won’t bump your main account’s login state, and it also makes it less likely that conversation history gets mixed together.

Logout and privacy: Always do this step after using a public computer

When using Claude Opus 4.6 on a public or shared device, be sure to manually log out after you’re finished, then close the browser. If you only close the page without logging out, your login state may still be retained, and the next user could enter your session directly.

If you suspect your login state is “stuck,” you can clear the site’s cookies and cache in your browser settings, then log in again. This method is also very effective for situations where you “just can’t switch accounts no matter what.”
