According to Forbes, employees at Chinese tech giant Tencent are actively embracing the OpenClaw AI agent framework, showing strong interest in this emerging technology. The report notes that at Tencent events, participants have been downloading and installing OpenClaw, a process humorously called "raising the lobster," highlighting the rapid adoption of AI agent systems within China's developer community. Compared to Western markets, Chinese users are more adaptable to AI-human interaction, which provides unique soil for the proliferation of frameworks like OpenClaw.
Tencent's move aligns with its broader AI strategy. The company plans to double its AI investment to $5.2 billion this year, focusing on model training, talent recruitment, and promoting AI agent services. Additionally, Tencent is collaborating with local AI firms like MiniMax and Zhipu AI to launch services compatible with OpenClaw, simplifying deployment. During the Spring Festival, Tencent joined forces with Alibaba, ByteDance, and others to invest over $1.1 billion in subsidies, using AI chatbots to boost consumption and further accelerate technology adoption.
