Recently, the tech world has been shaken by an AI agent platform called OpenClaw. Developed by Peter Steinberger in November 2025, its core design goal is to empower AI models to perform tasks in the real world. Unlike generative AI models like ChatGPT or Anthropic's Claude, OpenClaw is not a new AI model, but an agent platform. As explained by Georgia Institute of Technology professor Mark Riedl, AI agent technology can operate autonomously for users and typically "implements changes in the world."
OpenClaw stands out because it can be configured for full access to a user's computer system, allowing AI agents to perform tasks such as handling emails, updating calendars, finding files, running services, and launching other applications. This deep integration enables users to interact with OpenClaw through natural language, making it an efficient digital assistant. However, this powerful capability has raised concerns about security and privacy, prompting industry discussions on implementing necessary safeguards.
