Recently, an AI agent platform named OpenClaw has garnered widespread attention in the tech community. Launched in November 2025 by developer Peter Steinberger, its core goal is to enable AI models to perform tasks in the real world. Unlike conversational AI models such as ChatGPT or Claude, OpenClaw is not a new AI model but an operating platform specifically designed for AI agents, aiming to integrate AI more deeply into users' daily digital lives.
According to Professor Mark Riedl from the School of Interactive Computing at the Georgia Institute of Technology, an AI agent is a technology that can act autonomously for users and "effect changes in the world." The uniqueness of OpenClaw lies in its ability to be configured to grant AI agents full access to users' computers, enabling them to perform a series of complex operations such as categorizing emails, updating calendars, finding files, running services, and launching other applications. This high level of integration marks a key step in automating task processing.
