After months of anticipation, Google's Gemini AI assistant is now being deployed more widely on the Android Auto platform. According to reports from tech media outlet 9to5Google, following its initial announcement as a replacement for the native Assistant about a year ago, Google initiated a phased rollout plan in November 2025. A recent surge in user reports confirms Gemini is now going live in vehicles, indicating the update is accelerating its coverage.
However, early user feedback has been mixed. Some users on platforms like Reddit have pointed out issues with Gemini on Android Auto, including an inability to distinguish between two locations with the same name and prematurely stopping listening, with some describing its performance as "slightly confused." While Gemini has been highly anticipated as an upgraded voice assistant, user opinions are sharply divided—some are disappointed with its performance, while others have welcomed the change.
