Recently, Anthropic's AI assistant Claude has been embroiled in user account controversies. According to Forbes, multiple users have reported that their accounts were suspended or subscriptions quietly canceled without clear explanations. Among them, the personal account of Peter Steinberger, creator of the popular third-party tool OpenClaw and currently an OpenAI employee, was suspended on April 10, with the reason cited merely as "detection of suspicious signals." Steinberger stated that this occurred during compatibility testing after Anthropic engineers confirmed vulnerabilities in its classification system.
This wave of bans comes at a delicate time. Previous data showed that due to considerations over functionality and trust, a significant number of users are switching from ChatGPT to Claude, with its conversation volume experiencing an astonishing 1487% growth in March. However, the current "deplatforming" incidents have sparked strong user dissatisfaction over AI service providers' opaque rules and lack of appeal channels. One self-identified heavy paid user claimed that after continuously paying high fees and being banned, they only received templated responses and could not obtain specific reasons for the violation.
