Claude Troubleshooting: Fix Registration, Login & Feature Issues – Full Guide

Claude

As one of the most popular AI assistants, Claude users often encounter issues like account registration failures, login errors, and sluggish performance. This article rounds up the most common scenarios and provides practical fixes to help you solve problems quickly and efficiently.

Registration & Account Verification Issues

The most common problem when registering for Claude is not receiving the verification email. Start by checking your spam folder. If it's not there, try using a Gmail or Outlook address instead—QQ Mail sometimes blocks verification links. IP addresses from certain regions may also be restricted; try switching your network environment or using a stable tool. If you see "This email is already registered," you likely have an existing account—just use the password recovery option.

Note that Claude currently accepts phone verification less often, so email registration is your best bet. If you're in a restricted region, you can try selecting a supported country like the United States during registration, but be mindful of compliance requirements when using the service afterward.

Login Errors & Account Lockouts

If you encounter "Invalid credentials" or a password error when logging in, reset your password first. Claude's password reset link can sometimes be delayed—wait a few minutes and check your inbox again. If your account gets locked, it's usually due to multiple incorrect password attempts or suspicious login activity triggering the security system. In most cases, the account unlocks automatically after 15–30 minutes, or you can contact official support.

If you lose access to your authenticator after enabling two-factor authentication (2FA) and can't find your recovery codes, account recovery becomes difficult. We recommend taking a screenshot of your recovery codes right after enabling 2FA. If you see a "Too many requests" message, stop and wait for about 30 minutes before trying again—don't keep clicking.

Common Feature Issues

If your conversation history seems to disappear when using Claude, it's often a browser cache problem. Try clearing your cache or logging in from a different browser—don't overwrite old conversations directly. If the model's responses suddenly slow down, it may be due to peak server load; switching to a lighter model (like Claude Haiku) can help. Users in some regions may experience frequent disconnections from the Claude website—consider using the desktop client or API instead of the web version.

Claude's support for Chinese is already quite mature, but it may still misinterpret certain specialized terms. If you get a "Request timeout" error, check your network latency and try reconnecting after turning off any proxy. Free users have a conversation length limit; exceeding it will prompt "Conversation too long." In that case, start a new conversation or trim the context.

Payment & Subscription Issues (Pro Users)

Failed Claude Pro subscriptions are often due to payment card restrictions from the issuing bank or insufficient funds. Use a Visa or Mastercard single-currency card instead of dual-currency cards from certain countries. If the payment went through but your account hasn't been upgraded, wait 10 minutes and refresh the subscription page—it usually syncs. If the problem persists, contact support with a screenshot of the transaction. After canceling your subscription, you'll still have Pro benefits for the remaining period, and your account will automatically downgrade to the free version once the period ends.
