Claude Troubleshooting Guide: Fix Subscription, Login & Usage Issues

Claude

As an AI tool, Claude can occasionally run into issues during subscription, login, or everyday use. This article rounds up frequent problems and their solutions to help you get back on track quickly.

Subscription Failures and Payment Error Handling

Claude Plus subscription failures are often caused by payment card issuer restrictions or insufficient funds. First, confirm your bank card supports international online payments, and check that the billing address matches your bank records. If you see a "payment gateway error," try switching to a different credit card or using PayPal (available in some regions). Note that Claude does not accept virtual credit cards.

Some users report not getting Plus access immediately after subscribing. This is usually a system delay—wait 15–30 minutes and refresh the page. If the issue persists, log into your Claude account to check your subscription status or contact customer support with a screenshot of your order.

Account Login and Lockout Solutions

If you see an "Account locked" message during login, it's often due to unusual login activity triggering security protocols. Check your email for a verification notice, complete two-factor authentication, then reset your password. If you use third-party login (e.g., Google/Apple account), make sure the authorization hasn't expired and clear your browser cache before trying again.

Frequently switching accounts or using proxy tools can get your IP blocked. Try changing your network environment (e.g., switch to a mobile hotspot) and wait at least 30 minutes before logging in again. For unblocking, always submit an appeal through official channels, providing your registered email and approximate usage timeline to speed up the process.

Request Errors and Usage Limits During Use

Seeing a "Request failed" error during a conversation? This is usually due to API request timeouts or server overload. Try lowering your question frequency or shortening your input. If the error persists, log out and log back in, or switch conversation modes (e.g., from fast mode to precise mode).

Free users have a limit of about 30 conversations per hour. If you need frequent usage, upgrade to Claude Plus directly. Note that users outside certain regions may be affected by local content policies, where some sensitive topics could be filtered. To work around this, rephrase your questions carefully or avoid triggering keywords.
