SpaceXAI's AI assistant Grok has officially launched voice chat support on Apple CarPlay. Starting now, iPhone users with iOS 26.4 or later can connect their device to the car's infotainment system and use the steering wheel's voice button to ask questions or issue commands — all completely hands-free. Previously, Grok only appeared as a placeholder app in CarPlay, with a promise that "hands-free support is coming." That feature is now live.
Apple first allowed third-party voice-driven chat apps to integrate into CarPlay with the release of iOS 26.4 last year, but required developers to use Apple's voice control templates and apply for a special "Entitlement" permission. Grok is among the first chatbots to receive this approval. iOS 26.4 also introduced new features like an ambient music widget for CarPlay. As long as users keep their iPhone updated to this version or newer, these enhancements are available automatically.
