Recently, Microsoft's gaming brand Xbox announced a controversial brand adjustment: it is now officially rebranded as all-caps "XBOX." According to Kotaku, XBOX CEO Asha Sharma posted a poll on social platform X on May 13, asking users whether they preferred "Xbox" or "XBOX." The final results showed that the all-caps version won by a two-to-one margin. Shortly after, Sharma changed the name and username of the official Xbox X account to XBOX, signaling a serious push for the change.
Reactions online have been sharply divided. On X, some users welcomed the brand shift, saying the all-caps format feels more impactful. However, on platforms like Bluesky, the rename drew heavy mockery, with users joking that "there's no more Xbox, only XBOX." Notably, Phil Spencer, who served as the brand's spokesperson for over a decade and worked at Xbox for more than 20 years, recently announced his retirement, adding another layer of uncertainty to this brand overhaul.
