Sign-Up and Account Creation

To get started with Claude, visit the official website at claude.ai and click the "Sign Up" button. You can quickly log in using your Google or Microsoft account, or register with an email address. During registration, you'll need to provide a valid email and set a password, then complete email verification. We recommend using Gmail or Outlook to avoid potential verification delays that some regional email providers may cause.

After signing up, you'll be asked to fill in basic information, including your name and intended use (e.g., study, work, or research). This data is only used to improve your experience and won't affect functionality. Currently, Claude is open for registration in most regions without requiring extra tools to access.

Logging In and Linking Third-Party Accounts

Once logged in, navigate to the settings page and find the "Connected Accounts" option to link your Google, Microsoft, or GitHub accounts. Linking allows one-click login, saving you from repeatedly entering your password. We especially recommend linking GitHub, as it enables developers to call the Claude API directly in their workflow. For account security, Claude supports two-factor authentication (2FA), which we encourage you to enable for extra protection.

Enterprise users can also bind their company’s identity system via SSO (Single Sign-On). In team collaboration scenarios, Claude’s Workspace feature supports multiple account switching—simply add team permissions in the settings.

Switching Accounts and Multi-Device Usage

Claude allows you to save multiple account details in a single browser. Click your avatar in the top-right corner and select "Switch Account" to quickly change between logged-in states. If you’re using Claude on both a computer and a mobile device, make sure you’re logged into the same account on both ends—conversation history will sync automatically via the cloud. Note that free-tier users can only keep up to two devices active at the same time; you’ll need to manually log out of one if you exceed that limit.

For scenarios where you manage multiple accounts (e.g., personal and work accounts), consider using your browser’s multi-profile feature or simply logging in via incognito mode. Claude does not limit how often you can switch accounts, but frequent switching may trigger a temporary verification prompt—just enter the code to proceed.

Common Issues and Tips

New users often encounter the problem of not receiving the verification email after signing up. Check your spam folder, or wait a few minutes and resend. If you see an "Authorization failed" error when linking a third-party account, try clearing your browser cache and retry. Additionally, if you run into a "Token limit exceeded" error during a conversation, it means your input is too long—simply split the content into separate paragraphs or start a new conversation. Once you master these basics, you’ll be able to use Claude smoothly for everyday AI conversations and creative tasks.
