At the Android Show on May 12, Google officially announced Gemini Intelligence as the unified name for a suite of AI features on premium Android devices. The system not only stands out visually but also uses animations designed to reduce interruptions, helping users stay focused on their current tasks. The first feature—task automation—debuted in March with the Galaxy S26 and Pixel 10, and now Gemini Intelligence devices can perform operations across more apps. Google emphasizes that "automation becomes even more powerful when screen or image context is added." For example, users can long-press the power button to bring up a list, and have Gemini automatically add all items from the list to the shopping cart; or take a photo of a hotel lobby brochure and simply say, "Search for similar travel routes for a group of six on Expedia."
Beyond automation, Google introduced smarter autofill for Android apps and Chrome, which uses Gemini's Personal Intelligence to prefill forms and passwords. Meanwhile, the Gboard keyboard gets a new Rambler mode, featuring a waveform design language that spans the full width of the keyboard, further reinforcing Gemini Intelligence's visual identity. Google also teased Googlebooks, a new laptop category blending the strengths of Android and ChromeOS, set to arrive in the fall.
