Recently, a lot of people have been asking me how to register for Claude, especially the phone verification step where they always get stuck. The process is not actually that complicated, but there are a few details you need to watch out for. This tutorial will take you step by step through the registration, phone number binding, and account security settings so you can smoothly access the Claude chat interface.
What You Need Before Registering
Before you start, check two things: an email address that can send and receive emails normally (Gmail, Outlook, or major domestic email providers all work), and a mobile phone that can receive SMS messages. If you're using a domestic phone number, make sure it can receive international SMS—some virtual carrier numbers may be blocked.
Also, it's a good idea to install the official Claude app (iOS or Android) in advance. The web version works exactly the same way—just open claude.ai in your browser. A stable internet connection is recommended to avoid interruptions that could cause the verification code to expire.
Email Registration & Initial Verification
Open the Claude website or app, and click "Sign up" to go to the registration page. Enter your email address, and the system will immediately send a verification email to that address. If you don't see it in your inbox, be sure to check your spam folder—it sometimes gets flagged by mistake.
Click the "Verify Email" button in the email, and the page will redirect you to set a password. We recommend using a strong password—a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols is more secure. After confirming, Claude will ask you to proceed to the next step: phone verification.
