OpenClaw FAQ: A Practical Guide from Login to Voice Calling

OpenClaw

OpenClaw is an AI-powered voice agent tool that lets you make automated calls and complete voice interactions using natural language. Many new users run into login failures, inaccurate voice recognition, or call interruptions. This article addresses the most frequently reported scenarios, providing step-by-step solutions to help you get up and running quickly.

Login and Account Binding Issues

Some users report being unable to log in after registration or not receiving a verification code on their linked phone number. First, check that your network connection is stable. OpenClaw’s support for overseas carriers may have delays—try switching to a 4G/5G network and retry. If the verification code still doesn’t appear, log out and re-link your phone number, or use the email verification code to log in. Also, make sure your account has completed developer authorization on the CallCow platform; unauthorized accounts cannot access OpenClaw’s dialing API.

Voice Recognition and Call Quality Issues

When using OpenClaw to make calls, you may occasionally encounter situations where the other party can’t hear you clearly or the AI misrecognizes speech. This is often related to microphone permissions and background noise. Go to your system settings and ensure OpenClaw has microphone access enabled, then test in a quiet environment. If recognition errors persist, check whether your conversation script contains uncommon words or dialect terms. The AI model currently handles standard Mandarin and English well; for other languages, we recommend preparing a standardized script in advance. In addition, network instability during calls can cause packet loss—keep your network latency below 100ms for best results.

Account Locking and Request Error Handling

Frequent dialing or a high volume of requests in a short time may cause OpenClaw to temporarily lock your account. This is a security mechanism designed to prevent abuse—it usually unlocks automatically after 15–30 minutes. If you encounter a "Too Many Requests" error, reduce your call frequency and leave at least 5 seconds between each call. For the common "401 Unauthorized" error, update your API Key or generate a new access token on the CallCow dashboard. If you see a "500 Internal Server Error," it’s likely a temporary server-side issue—simply retry later.

Feature Limits and Plan Recommendations

The free version of OpenClaw has a daily call limit and a maximum call duration of 3 minutes per call. If your business requires longer conversations or higher concurrency, consider upgrading to the Professional plan. The Professional plan supports custom voice models and batch outbound calling, making it suitable for customer service or marketing scenarios. Please note that all versions strictly prohibit using OpenClaw for spam calls or any activity that violates local laws—accounts found in violation will be permanently banned. When switching accounts, remember to first unbind the API association on the original device; otherwise, the new account won’t be able to activate dialing properly.

These are the most common OpenClaw issues and their solutions. If the problem persists after following the steps above, submit a support ticket on the official CallCow community forum—you can usually expect a technical response within 24 hours.
