At this year's Google I/O 2026, Google announced a series of major Gemini-powered updates spanning search, applications, and an entirely new platform. The most anticipated release is the next-generation large model Gemini 3.5 Pro, now in testing and expected to launch officially next month. Meanwhile, the lightweight assistant Gemini Spark, designed for high-end users, will become available next week in the US to Google AI Ultra subscribers. These new features will gradually be integrated into the Gemini app, Google Flow, and YouTube Shorts, with AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra tier users gaining early access starting today.
Search is getting a major upgrade: Google is adding smart agent coding and a universal shopping cart to search, enabling users to complete complex queries and cross-platform price comparisons using natural language. In addition, the Android XR platform officially debuted, built specifically for mixed reality devices, and is expected to launch this summer on Android and iOS for AI Pro and Ultra subscribers. YouTube and Gmail will also begin integrating Gemini capabilities this summer, delivering smarter content summaries and email management.
