Claude Tutorial: The Complete Guide to Registration, Login, and Account Management

Claude

Claude is an intelligent AI assistant developed by Anthropic, capable of text generation, code writing, document analysis, and more. Many beginners feel confused about the registration process or switching between accounts. This guide starts from scratch and walks you through Claude's sign-up, login, and account management step by step, so you can start using the tool quickly.

How to Register for Claude

Visit the Claude website (claude.ai) and click the "Get Started" button in the top-right corner. You can choose to sign up quickly with your Google account, or enter your personal email (Gmail or Outlook recommended) and set a password to complete registration. After submitting, the system will send a verification email — click the link inside to activate your account.

Note that Claude currently has access restrictions in some regions. If you see a "Service not available" message, try changing your network environment or using a stable proxy service. Once registered, the system guides you through a short preference setup, including selecting your use case (e.g., writing, coding, learning), so the AI can better match your needs.

Login and Account Binding

After registration, return to the Claude website. On the login page, enter your email and password, or click "Continue with Google" for one-click access. If you have multiple Claude accounts (e.g., a personal account and a work account), go to "Settings" and find the "Account" menu. Click "Log out" to exit the current account, then log in with another one.

Account binding mainly applies to paid plan users: click your avatar, enter the "Account" page, and in the "Subscription" section, bind a credit card or PayPal to upgrade to Claude Pro. Free users don't need any binding — just use the basic features. We recommend periodically checking that the email linked to your account is valid, to avoid issues when resetting your password.

Switching Accounts and Security Settings

Click your user avatar in the bottom-left corner of the Claude interface, then select "Settings" to access account management. To switch accounts, directly click "Switch account" (if you have added multiple accounts) or "Log out" and log in again. For team collaboration, Claude currently does not support multiple accounts logged in at the same time, but you can use different browser profiles or separate devices to log into different accounts.

For security, be sure to enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA). Go to the "Security" option, bind your phone number or use an authenticator app (e.g., Google Authenticator). You'll then need to enter a dynamic verification code each time you log in. Additionally, change your password regularly and avoid checking "Remember password" on public devices to prevent account leaks.

Common Account Issues

If you encounter "Login failed" or "Account locked," first check your network connection, then try clearing your browser cache or using incognito mode. If the issue persists, click "Forgot password" on the login page to reset it via your registered email. For accounts that haven't been used for a long time, the system may put them into a dormant state — simply log in again and complete a CAPTCHA to restore access.

When you see a "Region restriction" error, make sure the IP address of your network is located in a supported region (e.g., United States, United Kingdom, Japan). If binding a credit card fails, check that your card is a Visa/MasterCard dual-currency card and that the billing address matches the country of your network IP. All the steps above are based on the latest Claude interface; future updates may bring minor changes, so we recommend keeping an eye on official announcements.
