OpenClaw

OpenClaw is a powerful tool, but many beginners run into issues during registration, account linking, and switching. This tutorial breaks down the essential steps to help you get started quickly and avoid typical pitfalls.

Create Your Account: Email & Verification Walkthrough

Go to the OpenClaw website, click the "Sign Up" button, enter a valid email address, and set a password. Your password must include uppercase and lowercase letters plus numbers, and be at least 8 characters long. After submitting, check your inbox for the verification email and click the link to activate your account. If you don't see it, check your spam folder or request a new one.

Some users report delays with domestic email providers, so using Gmail or Outlook is recommended. Once registered, you'll be redirected to the dashboard where you can start linking payment methods or social accounts.

Link Your Account: Connect Third-Party Services

Head to the settings page and find the "Account Linking" option. It supports platforms like Google and GitHub. Click the corresponding icon and authorize OpenClaw to access basic info. Once linked, you can log in via these third-party services and skip the hassle of re-entering passwords.

If linking fails, check your network connection or clear your browser cache. Note that each OpenClaw account can link up to 5 third-party services—you'll need to unlink an old one before adding a new one.

Switch Accounts: Manage Multiple Profiles

OpenClaw lets you save multiple accounts on the same device. In the profile center, click "Switch Account" and enter a new email and password. To remove a saved account, go to "Account Security" and delete the login record.

For better organization, set up separate accounts for different purposes—for example, one for work and another for personal use. Before switching, make sure to save any unsaved settings to avoid data loss.

Common Errors & Fixes

If you see "Email already registered" during sign-up, that email is already tied to an OpenClaw account—try resetting your password. If you get "Authorization failed" when linking a third-party service, confirm that service is on OpenClaw's supported list or update your browser to the latest version.

If permissions behave oddly after switching accounts, simply log in again to restore normal access. All these steps are also detailed with illustrations in the official help documentation.
