Claude is an AI conversation assistant developed by Anthropic, known for its strong comprehension and safety features. It has become a go-to tool for many users in their daily workflow. This guide walks you through the registration process, account binding, and multi-account switching on Claude, helping new users get started quickly.
Claude Account Registration: Email and Google Quick Login
Go to the Claude website and click the "Sign Up" button in the top right corner to enter the registration page. You can register using an email address: enter your email, set a password, and the system will send a verification email. Click the verification link to activate your account.
A faster option is to select "Continue with Google" and authorize your Google account to log in directly. Note that Claude currently does not support Apple ID or Microsoft account login, so please have an email address or Google account ready beforehand.
After registration, you will need to complete a CAPTCHA verification on your first login and agree to the terms of service. Some users may not receive the verification code—check your spam folder or try a different email address.
Account Binding: Phone Number Verification and Two-Factor Authentication
To secure your account, Claude requires new users to bind a phone number. Go to "Settings," select "Security," click "Add Phone," enter your country code and phone number, then receive the SMS verification code. Chinese mainland phone numbers usually work; if you encounter issues, try another number or use a temporary SMS service.
We recommend enabling two-factor authentication (2FA). In security settings, turn on "2FA," scan the QR code with Google Authenticator or Authy, and enter a one-time code each time you log in. This step significantly reduces the risk of account theft.
For team or enterprise users, after binding an email, you can add members and assign permissions, but this is not required for personal accounts. Once binding is complete, Claude remembers your device info, allowing the same account to log in on multiple devices.
Switching Between Multiple Accounts: Quick Logout and Re-Login
Claude currently does not offer a built-in "multi-account simultaneous login" feature, but you can switch between accounts using browser multi-profile setups. The simplest method is to create multiple user profiles in Chrome or Edge, each logged into a different Claude account.
To switch within the same browser, click your avatar in the top right corner, select "Log Out," then log in with the new account credentials. Remember to save any unfinished conversations before logging out, as history is only preserved in the current account.
For frequent switchers, we recommend using a password manager like Bitwarden or 1Password to store credentials for each account, so you don't have to type them manually each time. The Claude app on Android and iOS supports similar operations—just log out from settings and log in with a different account.
Common Account Issues: Forgot Password and Account Lockout
If you forget your password, click "Forgot Password" on the login page, enter your registered email, and the system will send a reset link. If you don't receive the email, check your spam folder or try a different browser. If multiple failed login attempts lock your account, it will usually unlock automatically after 30 minutes.
If you still can't log in after unlocking, contact Anthropic support with your registered email and the exact error message. Avoid repeated attempts to prevent triggering security mechanisms. Claude's customer support typically responds within 1–3 business days, so it's best to submit a ticket on weekdays.
