On the morning of June 22, 2026, Eastern Time, social media platform X (formerly Twitter) experienced a widespread service outage. According to real-time data from Downdetector, more than 15,000 users reported issues including inability to load timelines, send messages, or log in around 9:30 AM ET on Monday. The outage affected both the mobile app and the web version, drawing significant attention. By 10:18 AM ET, some users had gradually regained access, and the platform was largely stabilizing.

Geographically, major East Coast cities such as New York, Boston, and Washington, D.C., were among the hardest hit, while users in Chicago, Dallas, and Atlanta also reported similar problems. Notably, this is not the first recent anomaly for X. Just the day before (June 21) around noon, approximately 2,600 users had reported brief connectivity issues, which quickly resolved. X has not yet released an official statement regarding the cause of this outage.

The scale and duration of this disruption are worth monitoring. As a social media giant with hundreds of millions of monthly active users, X experienced two service fluctuations within 24 hours, potentially exposing underlying risks in its infrastructure stability. With the platform continuing to undergo technical architecture adjustments and business restructuring, user expectations for service reliability are also shifting. In the coming days, tech industry observers will closely watch whether X releases a detailed post-incident report and whether any corresponding optimization measures will be introduced.
