AI company Anthropic recently announced the research preview of Claude Tag, an "always-on" AI capability deeply integrated into Slack. Users simply tag @Claude in a chat to get real-time insights, assign tasks, and participate in collaboration like a team member. The feature initially rolls out to Claude Enterprise and Claude Team customers. Previously, users could already direct message @Claude in Slack or tag it in channels for instant help; Claude Code could route coding tasks from channels to full web-based sessions and post updates in threads.
Unlike one-off Q&A, Claude Tag's core is shared identity and memory continuity — all members in the same channel access the same Claude instance, meaning "anyone can see what Claude is working on and pick up right where a colleague left off." System administrators can finely define which tools, information, and channels Claude can access, ensuring each Claude identity stays strictly within its assigned scope. For example, a Claude configured for legal work won't wander into engineering channels, avoiding data confusion and security risks.
