X Platform Suffers Major Outage: Thousands Report Connection Issues

On Monday morning, June 22, social media platform X (formerly Twitter) experienced widespread service disruptions. According to data from the outage tracking site Downdetector, more than 15,000 users reported access issues before 10 a.m. Eastern Time. The outage peaked around 9:30 a.m. ET, with affected users concentrated on the East Coast, including New York, Boston, and Washington D.C., while significant problems were also reported in Chicago, Dallas, and Atlanta.

This marks the second consecutive day of service instability for X. On Sunday, June 21, around midday, approximately 2,600 users reported similar interruptions. By late Monday morning, X had largely returned to normal operation. According to other media reports, the number of complaints on Downdetector briefly exceeded 22,000. X has not yet issued a specific statement regarding the cause of the outage.

Although the disruption was relatively short-lived, it affected a wide geographic area, once again raising concerns about platform stability. As a global social media platform with hundreds of millions of users, X needs to further strengthen its infrastructure redundancy to handle sudden traffic spikes or technical failures and avoid impacting user experience.
