How to Create a Spotify Account

To get started, open the Spotify website or app and click the "Sign Up" button. You can quickly create an account using your Google account, Apple ID, or email address. We recommend using an email you check regularly so you won't miss important notifications. After entering your username, password, and date of birth, Spotify will send a verification email—just click the link to activate your account. The whole process takes about 3 minutes, and you don't need to add a payment method to start using the free version.

Note: If you run into trouble signing up due to regional restrictions, try switching your network environment or using incognito mode. Keep in mind that the country or region you select during registration affects your music library and pricing, so choose carefully based on where you plan to use the service.

Linking Devices & Syncing Across Platforms

Spotify lets you log in on multiple devices—phones, computers, tablets, smart speakers, and more. Once you sign into the same account on any device, your playlists and listening history sync automatically. To use the "Control playback on your computer from your phone" feature, make sure both devices have the "Connect to a device" option turned on and are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

There's no strict limit on how many devices you can link, but paid plans have specific limits for offline downloads. For Family Plan members, the main account holder must confirm the household address. We recommend enabling "Offline Mode" after linking to save mobile data.

Switching Accounts & Managing Family Plans

To switch between Spotify accounts, go to Settings and choose "Log Out," then sign in with a different account. For Family Plan management, the primary account holder can view the member list under "Account Overview" and remove or reinvite users at any time. Keep in mind that each account can only switch to a different Family Plan once per year, so avoid unnecessary changes.

If you encounter issues like "Account Locked" or "Device Binding Failed," first check your network connection and password. If that doesn't resolve it, submit a verification request through official customer support. When linking a credit card or PayPal, double-check that your billing address matches the region you registered with—otherwise, you might trigger a security review.
