New Spotify users often feel overwhelmed by registration, account linking, and switching between devices. This tutorial walks you through everything from creating an account to seamless profile switching, whether you're using the free version or Premium. Avoid common login and binding mistakes along the way.
Two Ways to Register a Spotify Account
Spotify supports email registration and quick login via third-party accounts. For email sign-up, open the official website or app, tap "Sign Up," enter your email, set a password, and choose your gender and date of birth. For third-party login, click "Continue with Google" or "Continue with Facebook," authorize the connection, and an account is created automatically. Note that email registration requires verification—check your spam folder if needed.
Once registered, free users can start listening immediately, but ads will play and offline downloads are not available. To enjoy ad-free playback, upgrade to a Premium plan in your settings.
Account Linking: Connect Social Media & Devices
Linking your account lets you sync playlists across platforms. Go to Settings, tap "Account Management" or "Linked Accounts," and choose to connect Facebook, Google, or Apple ID. Once linked, you can log in with just one click on the corresponding icon, saving you from typing your password. Keep in mind that each Spotify account can only be linked to one third-party account. To unlink, revoke authorization on the respective platform.
For smart speakers or car systems, you need to scan a QR code or enter a pairing code on the device. For example, with Sonos: open the Sonos app, select Spotify when adding a music service, and sign in to sync your saved tracks and playlists.
