On the morning of June 22 Eastern Time, social platform X (formerly Twitter) suffered a widespread access outage. According to outage tracker Downdetector, over 15,000 users reported being unable to use the platform by 10 a.m. ET. The peak of the disruption began around 9:30 a.m. ET and continued until roughly 10 a.m. ET. Affected users were concentrated in New York, Boston, and Washington D.C. on the U.S. East Coast, while Chicago, Dallas, and Atlanta also saw a high number of complaints. As of press time, X platform had been restored.
Notably, this was the second consecutive day of service issues for X. Downdetector records show that around noon on June 21, approximately 2,600 users reported similar problems. X has not yet commented on the cause of this outage. USA Today has reached out to X for further details. Based on user feedback, the issues mainly included pages failing to load, inability to post, and a sluggish feed.
