OpenClaw is a powerful AI tool, but many beginners get stuck during sign-up, account binding, and switching between accounts. This hands-on tutorial covers every step to help you get started smoothly and avoid common pitfalls.
Registering Your OpenClaw Account
First, go to the OpenClaw official website and click the "Sign Up" button in the top-right corner. You can register with your email address or log in quickly using your Google or GitHub account.
If you choose email registration, we recommend using an email address you check regularly—because verification codes and notifications will be sent there. When setting your password, make sure it's at least 8 characters long and includes both letters and numbers, or the system will flag it as invalid.
After submitting, check your email inbox for a verification message and click the link to activate your account. The whole process takes less than 5 minutes. If you don't see the email, don't forget to check your spam folder.
Binding Your Email & Phone Number
Once logged in, go to the "Settings" page and find the "Account Security" section. Here you'll need to link your phone number—mainly for two-factor authentication and password recovery.
Click "Add Phone," select your country code, enter your phone number, and request the SMS verification code. Enter the code to activate the phone binding. Your email is already linked by default, but we recommend checking the "Email Preferences" to confirm your notification settings and avoid missing important updates.
If you plan to use OpenClaw's team collaboration features, you can also add a work email under "Organization" to make it easier for team members to share projects.
