Anthropic Launches Claude Tag: Your Always-On AI Teammate in Slack

Anthropic recently announced the research preview of Claude Tag, an always-on AI feature deeply integrated into Slack. Users can simply mention the AI with @Claude in any chat to receive instant insights, analysis, and task assignments—like adding a digital coworker who never disconnects. The feature is initially available to Claude Enterprise and Claude Team customers.

Unlike previous on-demand help via direct messages or channel @mentions, the core idea behind Claude Tag is shared access: everyone in the same Slack channel can interact with the same Claude identity. This means "anyone can see what Claude is working on and pick up the conversation where someone else left off." System administrators can precisely define which tools, information, and channels Claude can access—for example, a Claude configured for the legal team won't intrude on engineering channels. Additionally, the integration with Claude Code helps developers automatically route coding tasks from chat to a full coding session in the browser, then return the results back to the thread.

This upgrade marks a significant shift for Anthropic from "human-to-AI conversation" toward "human-to-AI collaboration." As businesses become more comfortable with AI agents, Claude Tag has the potential to become a new hub for team knowledge management. Going forward, striking the right balance between cross-domain information isolation and collaboration efficiency will be key to the continued evolution of such products.
