1. Two Main Ways to Register a Spotify Account

Registering a Spotify account is straightforward. You can either log in with your Google account or Apple ID, or sign up using an email address. If you're in a region like China, it's recommended to register with an email first to avoid payment method limitations later. Simply open the Spotify website or app, tap "Sign Up," enter your nickname, password, and date of birth, and complete the verification process.

Keep in mind that Spotify enforces strict regional restrictions. Free users don't need to add a payment method—just start listening, but you'll hear ads. If you want Premium, make sure your region supports it, or consider activating through gift cards later.

2. Bind Your Phone Number or Third-Party Account

After registration, it's wise to bind your phone number or link your Google/Apple account for safer logins across devices. Go to "Account Management" or "Security" in Settings, tap "Add Phone Number," enter the verification code, and you're done. If you signed up with email, you can also use "Link Accounts" to connect third-party accounts in case you forget your password.

Linking a third-party account also makes it easier to switch between your computer, phone, or TV—just sign in with Google or Apple without re-entering your password. Note that Spotify does not support direct binding with WeChat Pay or Alipay; you'll need an email or overseas account.

3. Switching Accounts and Multi-Device Sync

Many users share a family plan or need to switch accounts between devices. Here's how: tap the gear icon in the top-right corner of the app to open Settings, scroll to the bottom, select "Log Out," then enter the new account details. Important: the free plan allows playback on only one phone or computer at a time. Premium members can link up to 5 devices, but only one can play music simultaneously.

If you're on a family plan, the main account can invite other members from "Account Details." Invited users receive an email or link to join without re-registering. When switching accounts, always log out of the current one first to avoid playback conflicts or playlist confusion.
