Google announced on Monday that its Gemini app’s personalized AI image generation feature is now free for all eligible US users. Previously, this service—built on the Nano Banana model—was only available to Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers. Since Google previewed the feature’s support for personalized image generation in April, users have been able to create custom images that reflect their individual interests. This free rollout marks a significant step in Google’s AI democratization efforts, allowing all US users to experience a personal-intelligence-driven creative tool without a subscription.
According to reports, Gemini’s “Personal Intelligence” feature fully launched in the US market this March, and this free expansion now reaches a broader user base. Meanwhile, last month Google also revealed a series of upcoming updates for the Gemini app, including the “Daily Brief” feature, a redesigned interface, integration of the AI video model Gemini Omni, and a personal AI assistant named Gemini Spark. These moves signal that Google is accelerating the shift of generative AI capabilities from premium subscription perks into accessible services for everyone.
