According to Elon Musk's post on X, SpaceX has transferred "dozens" of top engineers from its Starship and Starlink projects to the AI division, focusing on iterating its Grok chatbot model. Musk stated that these engineers are dedicating most of their time to AI development, resulting in a "significant acceleration" of SpaceX's model training and tool improvement. This move signals SpaceX's further escalation in AI investment, extending from aerospace hardware to cutting-edge algorithms.
Musk also announced that the latest Grok 4.5 is already in private beta testing at Tesla and SpaceX. He further plans that starting this year, SpaceX will release a fully trained new AI foundation model every month, built "from scratch" rather than through incremental fine-tuning. This aggressive release cadence, combined with the allocation of top engineering talent, shows Musk's ambition to replicate SpaceX's rapid iteration capability in the AI race.
